Eight people have sustained injuries following a bus accident that took place along the Pakwach – Karuma highway, in Nwoya district.The accident occurred last night, when a Kampala-bound Gaagaa bus, registration number UAL 158Z from Paidha hit an elephant that was crossing the road, from Murchison Falls National Park.
The injured were identified Karim Twaha, the bust driver, Ismail Ramadhan, Aweka Sandra, David Tibito and Dr Christine Mpora. The other passengers include Derrick Rwothongeyo, Muhammad Ssegirinya and Oroma Francisca.
They were all rushed to health facilities in Nwoya and Pakwach for treatment.
The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson ASP Patrick Jimmy Okema told this publication that other passengers aboard the bus continued their journey on a rescue bus that was sent by the company.
In January this year, one person was killed and nine others were critically injured in an accident involving a Gaagaa bus in Nakasongola district along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
